New IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji is set to return to the United States soon as part of New Japan’s upcoming show.
As announced by New Japan on January 10, Tsuji will be a part of the upcoming New Beginning show, which will take place on February 27 in New Jersey. At the time of writing, Tsuji’s opponent has not been announced for the event.
Tsuji is currently a double champion in New Japan following his latest victory at Wrestle Kingdom 20. In the penultimate match of the show, Global Champion Tsuji defeated now former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and AEW star Konosuke Takeshita in a winner take all match to capture both titles. The match was the penultimate contest on the show, with Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final match against Kazuchika Okada headlining.
Yota Tsuji And Konosuke Takeshita Will Be Part Of NJPW USA Show
Along with an appearance by Tsuji, the other announcement sees the man who Tsuji beat to win the World Title, Konosuke Takeshita, look to once again win gold in the promotion as he will face El Phantasmo for the NPJPW World Television Championship. It should be noted that the match will have a 15-minute time limit given the rules of the championship, and he last time both men met, Phantasmo defeated Takeshita in 15 minutes and 2 seconds.
