A WWE SmackDown star was hit with a fine after posting footage of rehearsals on their social media page.
As reported by Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, Tama Tonga was given a “significant” fine for breaking the unwritten rule about recording and posting the footage:
“Word going around at SmackDown is that Tama Tonga was fined by WWE for posting a video of rehearsals last week. Was told it was significant of a fine. WWE has an unwritten rule about not recording/posting during rehearsal.”
Although Tonga has since taken the video down, it has been re-uploaded on fan accounts. The video in question sees Tonga filming Sikoa sat next to the entrance ramp and a number of talent in the ring. A conversation in the video also notes that the footage was filmed very shortly before the doors opened.
Tonga last competed on the February 20 episode of SmackDown, which saw him defeat Ilja Dragunov. Tonga is also a member of The MFTs faction, who lost the Tag Team Championships to Damian Priest and R-Truth on the March 20 edition of SmackDown.
WWE Rehearsals Remain Secretive
Although the company has peeled back the curtain more than ever before with podcasts and the WWE: Unreal docuseries on Netflix, rehearsals remain one part of the business that the promotion is looking to keep under wraps. Photos from these have previously made their way online, dividing opinions among fans over whether or not it should be seen.
