Multiple title matches and more took place on the latest WWE SmackDown.
In a rematch from Survivor Series, Shinsuke Nakamura put the United States Champion on the line against the man he beat to become the champion again, LA Knight. Additionally, the Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green put her title on the line for the first time against Chelsea Green.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were the commentary team for the show as Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are now the Raw announce team. This was also the first episode of SmackDown to air live on Netflix internationally as part of the new media rights deal.
The Following Results Took Place On WWE SmackDown:
- Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett opened the show followed by a lengthy video package recapping the Raw on Netflix debut
- Paul Heyman officially opened the show and spoke about Roman Reigns winning back the Ula Fala from Solo Sikoa. Asking Cody Rhodes to join him, Heyman announced that Reigns would be in the Royal Rumble. Kevin Owens interrupted from the crowd, leading to Rhodes chasing Owens through the crowd. With Heyman alone in the ring, The Wiseman was confronted by Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga. Jimmy Uso made the save but was beaten down by The New Bloodline. Rhodes returned to make the save
- Chelsea Green defeated Michin to retain the Women’s United States Championship
- Los Garzas defeated Pretty Deadly
- Shinsuke Nakamura vs. LA Knight ended in a no contest when The New Bloodline interfered. Rhodes and Uso came to the ring and made the challenge for a tag team match in the main event
- MCMG defeated A-Town Down Under
- Tiffany Stratton’s celebration was interrupted by Nia Jax, which led to a 4-way number one contenders match
- Bayley defeated Nia Jax, Naomi and Bianca Belair to become the new number one contender to the WWE Women’s Championship
- The New Bloodline defeated Rhodes and Uso when Owens and Rhodes fought to the back, leaving Uso alone. Owens and Rhodes went crashing through a table to close out the show
