Live from Berlin, Germany, the January 9 WWE SmackDown will see the World Title on the line, a debut, and more!
Taking place the night after a live event in Leipzig, Germany as part of the 2026 tour, the show will be headlined by Drew McIntyre challenging Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship in a 3 Stages of hell match.
Also, former NXT Champion Trick Williams makes his main roster debut against Rey Fenix, and The Wyatt Sicks will face The MFTs.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett are on commentary for the show.
WWE SmackDown Live Results January 9:
- Following introductions, Randy Orton officially opened up the show. Orton thanked the fans and welcomed them to the show, but was quickly interrupted by Trick Williams. The former NXT Champion tried to cut a promo, but the crowd chanted for an RKO. There was also sound issues throughout. Williams said that it wasn’t 2006, and Orton reminded Williams of his accomplishments. Orton put over Williams as a future star, but questioned why he interrupted him. Williams said that he is putting Orton on notice, and Orton gave him a warning for the future. A brawl ensued and Orton hit Williams with a draping DDT. Miz attacked Orton, but was hit with an RKO. Rey Fenix made his entrance as Orton made his way to the back.
- Trick Williams defeated Rey Fenix via pinfall in his SmackDown debut. Williams grabbed Fenix’s tights to pick up the win.
- Following a recap of the Ambulance match from last week, Damian Priest teased going after the WWE Championship. Drew McIntyre interrupted and Priest reminded McIntyre that he won their last confrontation. McIntyre spoke about his actions from last week, and added that he had Cody Rhodes’ prized watch. McIntyre promised to win the title.
- Alexa Bliss was on the phone with Charlotte Flair, who told Bliss she was sick. Nia Jax tried to drive a wedge between Flair and Bliss’ friendship.
- Giulia defeated Alexa Bliss to retain the Women’s United States Championship. Lash Legend attacked Bliss while the referee was distracted to allow Giulia to take advantage. Jax and Legend attacked Bliss after the match.
- Jordynne Grace was seen backstage and signed with SmackDown. After being interrupted by Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre, it was revealed that Grace vs. Fyre would take place later in the night. Kit Wilson tried to speak with Nick Aldis, but the door was closed on him.
- Matt Cardona spoke about returning to WWE after 6 years away and how he reinvented himself on the independents. Cardona met with Rhodes backstage, and Cardona said he wanted a shot at the WWE title.
- The MFTs defeated The Wyatt Sicks via pinfall.
- Jordynne Grace defeated Alba Fyre via pinfall. Jade Cagill interrupted Grace’s celebration.
- Sami Zayn spoke backstage about the main event, and admitted he wanted to see Drew McIntyre to win the main event so he could beat him and win the title.
- Carmelo Hayes defeated Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall to retain the US Championship.
- Drew McIntyre won the first of the 3 stages of hell match by hitting Cody Rhodes with a low blow and Claymore while the referee was distracted.
- Cody Rhodes won the falls count anywhere match, which was the second stage, after hitting a Cross Rhodes onto McIntyre through the announce table.
- Drew McIntyre won the third and final fall in the steel cage match thanks to a returning Jacob Fatu.
