WWE Loses Trademark Battle For “Yeet”

WWE Loses Trademark Battle For "Yeet"

WWE have been unable to capitalise on a popular Jey Uso catchphrase.

Much like the “What?” and “Yeah” chants frequently heard on WWE TV each week, Jey Uso has also added “Yeet” in the past few months. WWE were also on board with this, releasing “Yeet” shirts for fans to buy. However, it appears that this trend has become short-lived.

As seen on the December 4th edition of WWE Raw, a video package played to promote Uso’s upcoming match against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins with the title on the line. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that something was off in the clip; Uso’s “Yeet” shirt was blurred.

The reason for this is down to trademark issues relating to the word. As reported by WrestleVotes, WWE were unable to trademark “Yeet,” meaning that it will no longer be linked to Uso.

As evident on RAW just now, I’m told WWE has found trademark issues with Jey Uso’s “Yeet.” The word & merchandising will no longer be associated with Uso going forward.

This was noticed during the match itself as the commentary team would not acknowledge the crowd chant in the match.
