Women’s Championship Match Confirmed For AEW Grand Slam Australia

Women's Championship Match Confirmed For AEW Grand Slam Australia Mariah May

The first match has been made official for AEW Grand Slam 2025, which will also be AEW’s debut show in Australia.

On the January 15th edition of Dynamite, the first-ever Women’s Casino Gauntlet match took place to crown a number one contender to Mariah May’s Women’s Championship. With 7 entrants in the match and entering at random intervals, the order was as follows:

#1 – Kris Statlander
#2 – Jamie Hayter
#3 – Megan Bayne
#4 – Julia Hart
#5 – Willow Nightingale
#6 – Toni Storm
#7 – Harley Cameron

The match was won by Toni Storm, who trapped Julia Hart in a cradle pin to pick up the victory and become the new number one contender.

Also on Dynamite, Samoa Joe made his return to AEW after being absent for 6 months.

Major Rematch Confirmed For AEW Grand Slam

May and Storm previously faced off at All In, which saw May emerge victorious over her idol and become the new Women’s Champion. Prior to the show, May finally betrayed Storm after winning the Women’s Owen Hart Cup in a bloody end to Dynamite. Following the loss to May, Storm was absent for a number of months before returning to the company in her rookie persona, dropping the “Timeless” gimmick that made her one of the most entertaining acts in the entire company.

AEW Grand Slam Australia will take place on Saturday, February 15th and will be a TV special as opposed to a pay-per-view.
