Tony Khan’s major AEW signing has been seemingly confirmed.
Khan promised a big name would be coming to AEW on November 15th, with the contract signing taking place at Full Gear.
Many speculated that Mercedes Mone will be the top signing due to the fact that she appeared at All In and the show is in California. However, this has since been denied by Fightful Select.
As revealed by Andrew Zarian on the Mat Men podcast, the big name that will be appearing at the upcoming pay-per-view is Will Ospreay:
“I was told Will Ospreay. That is a big deal. Huge deal because WWE was actively pursuing him”
A fan asked if Ospreay is able to make the jump as he is contracted with NJPW until February 2024.
The wording was interesting from Tony. He said, We’ve agreed to something. They [NJPW and AEW] have an open relationship. They’re sending over Danielson and Danielson is an AEW guy. Danielson is there, Mox is there, Kingston. I think they’ll be ok with it. New Japan knows that this is a big lifeline in the States for them by being represented in AEW and having their talent on television. I think it helps them, I think the relationship is fine, we can stop thinking like this is WWE because WWE doesn’t work with anybody.
