UK Conservative Club Fined After Hosting Wrestling Deathmatch

A hardcore wrestling match took place in one of the most unlikely places.

Back in April 2022, UK based Seaham Conservative Club hosted a wrestling event that featured Colliery Championship Wrestling (CCW). With children in attendance, the club most likely expected it to be family friendly style show often seen at seaside resorts across the country. However, what resulted was anything but.

The match saw the performers Blizzard and Ronnie Thatcher utilise weapons in the match that are not typically seen in WWE and rarely in AEW. Fans in attendance reported that light tubes and a garden strimmer were amongst the reported objects used in the Deathmatch.

The local authority was alerted about the event and investigated following claims that the violent bout was not suitable for young children.

James Barrass of CCW has commented on the events that toom place, admitting that the ultra violent match was not to everyone’s tastes. Barrass has apologised for the Deathmatch taking place:

“We have apologised but how many times do you say sorry? How many times do you have to be penalised in life?”

Medical staff were in attendance for the event, but did not have do undertake any emergency procedures at the show.

Fast forward to 2023 and Durham County Council have reached a verdict on the events that took place at the Conservative Club. The Seaham venue was ultimately fined £300 and had to pay additional costs of £670.

Charges that were brought to the Seaham Conservative Club include holding the event without a licence, children being in attendance after 10pm and the sale of alcohol to non-members.
