Triple H Provides Update On Cody Rhodes Ahead Of WWE Wrestlepalooza

Triple H has confirmed Cody Rhodes’ status just over a week before Wrestlepalooza, which will air live on September 20.

Appearing as a guest on The Pat McAfee Show on September 9, the Chief Content Officer spoke about the WWE Champion, stating that he would be back for the upcoming show in Indianapolis:

“I’ll give you a spoiler right now, Cody will be back, Indianapolis,”

Rhodes has been away from TV since the August 8 episode of SmackDown, which saw him attacked by Drew McIntyre during the match that saw Rhodes and John Cena take on McIntyre and Logan Paul. The closing angle saw Rhodes slammed through the front of the announce table by McIntyre. The segment was done to write Rhodes off TV so that he could film the live-action Street Fighter movie, which will also star Roman Reigns.

Triple H Seemingly Confirms Prior Cody Rhodes Report

It was previously reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rhodes vs. McIntyre for the WWE Championship was scheduled for the Premium Live Event, but plans may have changed to McIntyre vs. Orton. However, with McIntyre vs. Orton now set to take place on the September 12 episode of SmackDown, this could also be the way that the Rhodes title match is set up:

“The originally scheduled Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre WWE title match scheduled for the show was at last word said to be still up in the air, and it could be McIntyre vs. Randy Orton.”

It should be noted that Triple H only stated that Rhodes would be back in time for Wrestlepalooza, and did not confirm whether The American Nightmare would be competing in a match or just making a live appearance in the city.
