Speculation continues as to where Chris Jericho will appear next in the wrestling world, with AEW and WWE remaining the 2 most likely options.
The 9-time World Champion remains on hiatus from All Elite Wrestling as he has been absent from the ring since Dynasty back in April. With Jericho more focused on Fozzy and other projects, there has been no indication that he will be making a return to action anytime soon.
With AEW having a history of keeping departing stars off TV for the final months of their contract, such as Penta, Ricky Starks [Ricky Saints] and Mariah May [Blake Monroe], there has been heavy speculation that Jericho could also be departing the company soon, possibly to set up another WWE return. As the rumours continue, a new report has shed some more light on Jericho’s status and what the future may hold.
Both AEW & WWE Interested In Chris Jericho
As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Jericho’s AEW contract is scheduled to expire at the end of 2025, provided that the deal is not frozen or an extension is agreed. It is also noted that while Jericho has not been discussed in creative meetings, his storylines generally go through Tony Khan, who has previously stated in interviews that he wants to see the inaugural AEW World Champion back in the promotion.
In terms of WWE interest, Fightful adds that Jericho has been brought up by the higher ups in the company, while also noting that the references to the former World Champion on TV are also a good sign. Also, one source in the company indicated that Jericho would almost certainly get offered “several million dollars” annually to return to WWE, but also added that AEW could match the offer, adding they were unsure on Jericho’s motivations at this time.
In a recent interview, Tony Khan was asked about a possible Jericho return.
