There have been talks to have Steve Austin make a WWE return.
As reported by Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, there have been discussions to have The Texas Rattlesnake make an appearance in the near future. It should be noted that while sources are not said to be confident either way at the time of writing, Austin’s name has been brought up by multiple departments.
Arguably the biggest star in the history of pro wrestling, Austin last appeared for WWE at WrestleMania 41. Along with him and Bret Hart receiving recognition for their critically acclaimed WrestleMania 13 match on night 1, Austin made a second appearance the next night to announce the weekend attendance for the event.
Austin last competed in the ring at WrestleMania 38, where he defeated Kevin Owens in what was his first match in 19 years.
Why Didn’t Steve Austin Return To WWE At WrestleMania 40?
The lead-up to WrestleMania 40 saw The Rock make his return to the ring as part of the rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns that culminated in the Bloodline Rules match. Given the longstanding rivalry between Rock and Austin, it was heavily expected that The Texas Rattlesnake would make an appearance to neutralise the Hollywood star. However, The Undertaker was the one to take out Rock in the match, not Austin. In a recent interview, Austin explained why he was not a part of WrestleMania 40.
