Shane McMahon has commented on the recent news that shocked the wrestling world.
On Wednesday, July 31st, news broke via WrestleTalk and Fightful that McMahon had met with Tony Khan at an airport in Arlington, Texas along with a photo of the two together in a private meeting room. It was reported that the meeting was to discuss “possibilities moving forward” and further fuels the rumours regarding McMahon potentially becoming All Elite to add to the craziness that has been the 2024 wrestling news cycle.
On Busted Open After Dark, host Bully Ray issued the following statement that was given to him by McMahon regarding the recent meeting:
Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting. We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family. I congratulated him on the five-year anniversary of AEW and look forward to see how he evolves the business moving forward.
With the McMahon family being responsible for the creation of WWE and transforming the promotion into the juggernaut it is today, many were stunned when news broke earlier in the year that a member of the McMahon family was interested in being a part of WWE’s biggest rival. However, with rumours continuing to circulate and with the recent photo confirming the meeting, it appears that anything can happen in the professional wrestling world.
Known for performing big stunts in his matches, McMahon in AEW could see more of the same death-defying manoeuvres if the signing does indeed happen.
When Did Shane McMahon Last Appear On TV?
Making a shock return at WrestleMania 39, Shane McMahon was revealed to be a surprise opponent for The Miz after being introduced by co-host Snoop Dogg. Seconds after the match started, McMahon tore his quad and was unable to continue, forcing Snoop Dogg to improvise a finish to the match. McMahon was also a part of the 2022 Royal Rumble but was reportedly trying to take creative control of the match, leading to McMahon being terminated by his father Vince.
