Reported Update To Adam Cole’s WWE Contract

Adam Cole may be a free agent in a few days. A new report by Fightful Select has emerged which provides details on the expiry of Cole’s WWE contract.

The report by Fightful states that Adam Cole will become a free agent on Friday August 27th. This means that as of this date, Cole will be free to show up in any promotion that he chooses. Unlike WWE branded releases, there is no non-compete clauses for expiration of contract.

It has been speculated that Adam Cole will not be staying with WWE and will instead be signing with All Elite Wrestling. If the Friday expiration date is true, this means that the former NXT Champion will not be able to appear on AEW Dynamite or Rampage until the following week. Realistically, Cole’s earliest appearance on a non-WWE show would be the September 1st edition of AEW Dynamite.

It was first reported at the start of the month that Cole’s contract initially expired back in July, but the former Undisputed Era leader signed a short extension to see him stay with the promotion until after SummerSlam. Coincidentally, NXT TakeOver 36 took place the day after, meaning that Cole could complete his rivalry with former Undisputed Era member Kyle O’Reilly. At TakeOver 36, Cole lost to O’Reilly in a 3 stages of hell match.

It should be noted that Adam Cole was not featured on the August 24th edition of NXT. The TakeOver 36 fallout episode was pre-taped and results from the show have been leaked online.

To fuel the rumours, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has been dropping hints on his social media regarding a potential arrival of Adam Cole to All Elite Wrestling.
