The WrestleMania 42 card is now starting to take shape, but who will be in the big matches and who will be left off the show?
After Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble for a second time, The Tribal Chief made his choice to face World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk at the biggest show of the year in April. However, with this being the only match made official for the show at the time of writing, there is still the matter of Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan making her choice, who will face WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, and what’s the plan for the biggest stars in the company?
With multiple titles at stake, the potential for dream matches and what could be a final Mania for some, what should fans expect in Las Vegas later in the year?
Which Matches Could Be On The WrestleMania 42 Card?
CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns For The World Heavyweight Championship
This match was already confirmed on Raw following Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble the previous week. With years of history between both men and with things getting personal in their confrontation, this will be the main event of night 2, and will finally stop the discourse surrounding whether or not Punk has main evented a Mania after he was in the final match of night 1 the previous year.
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu For The WWE Championship
With Reigns choosing Punk as his champion of choice for WrestleMania 42, the other match on the card will see Drew McIntyre defend his WWE Championship against the winner of the Elimination Chamber. Either Cody Rhodes will win the match, and Jacob Fatu will force his way into the bout or vice versa, or there will be a convoluted finish at Chamber to set up the 3-way. Much like the way that Rhea Ripley forced her way into the Women’s Title match in 2025, don’t expect this one to be a straightforward one-on-one encounter.
Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
If Oba Femi is set to be presented as a big star on the main roster, he needs an impressive showing in his first Mania. With Lesnar eliminating Femi from the Rumble, and this rumoured to be Lesnar’s final Mania, theoretically passing the torch to another dominant performer is the right way for Lesnar to finish things up. A powerhouse collision would be a great addition to the WrestleMania 42 card, with the potential for some fun pots throughout. Here’s hoping Lesnar can be bothered to make an effort on the night!
Raquel Rodriguez (c) vs. Liv Morgan For The Women’s World Championship
Right now, Raquel Rodriguez is not the Women’s World Champion. However, given the tension between her and Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan, a Judgment Day implosion looks to be inevitable at this point. Rodriguez has become a breakout star in the past 12 months, and deserves a singles title reign on the main roster. If Rodriguez isn’t champion by Mania, expect her to be added to the match between Vaquer and Morgan to make it another triplt threat match.
Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Finn Balor vs. JD McDonagh For The Intercontinental Championship
With the women of The Judgment Day at odds, it feels logical that the guys also fight it out to see who is the best of the trio. Mysterio and Balor look set to combust once more, and adding McDonagh could create a fun whose side is he on dynamic. Additionally, former Judgment Day member R-Truth could either have a fun cameo, or possibly serve as the special guest referee to call back to the history of the group.
TLC Match For The Women’s Tag Team Championships
Currently, a lot of the biggest stars in the Women’s Division are tied up in the tag team picture, and are all vying for a shot at Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. From Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss to the reunited Bellas to Nia Jax and Lash Legend, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria & Asuka and Kairi Sane, WWE is not short on teams. With this in mind, throwing all the teams together in a chaotic ladder match could make for a very entertaining bout to get some starpower on the card.
Jade Cargill (c) vs. Bianca Belair For The WWE Women’s Championship
Ever since Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair formed a tag team, a match between the current and former Women’s Champion looked to be inevitable. While Belair has been out of action for close to a year at this point, having The EST qualify for and win the Chamber is the most logical way to set up the match, especially as Cargill has turned heel in Belair’s absence. If for some reason Belair is unable to get cleared in time, this spot could also go to Tiffany Stratton.
Bron Breakker vs. Seth Rollins
Now nowhere near a title program after what happened at the start of the year and at the Royal Rumble, Breakker needs a big match at Mania and has to win. It is expected that Rollins will be cleared in time for the event to face the man who wrote him off TV in the storyline. Here’s hoping Breaker wins the contest and goes on to be the World Heavyweight Champion’s first feud, as The Vision member is in desperate need of some positive momentum.
The Usos (c) vs. Bronson Reed And Logan Paul For The World Tag Team Championships
More of a match to get the crowd Yeeting in Las Vegas and to get Logan Paul on the show. The Vision has been cooled off significantly ever since Seth Rollins was taken out, and the group need to win some gold soon to reestablish their credibility. Likely the one to get the viral moment that WWE are looking for, this could also be the match with all the run-ins as the likes of Austin Theory and LA Knight could get involved.
Becky Lynch (c) vs. AJ Lee In A Submission Match For The Women’s Intercontinental Championship
Ever since AJ Lee has returned, it has been very apparent that a singles match between her and Becky Lynch is set to take place. With both women being huge stars, this will be another match that will serve as a major selling point to shift tickets for the event. Given that Lee forced Lnch to submit in her return match along with Lych also winning many matches via tapout, the submission stipulation is a logical one. However, as the “I Quit” match is set to return to WWE 2K26, this is also a very possible stipulation to be added. There is also the possibility that this match is not for the title as Lee could cost Lynch when she defends the championship against an opponent such as Nattie.
“The Original” El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano – Mask vs. Mask
Now that “The Original” El Grande Americano [Chad Gable] has recovered from injury, the masked wrestler is looking for revenge on the imposter [Ludwig Kaiser]. It has now been over a year since Americano debuted, and it is time for the joke to come to an end. A spot for the AAA wrestlers to also get on the card by interfering in the match, this looks like the logical place to wrap up this storyline and allow Gable and Kaiser to do something more serious.
Gunther vs. Ilja Dragunov
Very few men have been able to claim victory over Gunther, with one of those being Ilja Draunov. Bringing The Ring General’s record-breaking reign as NXT UK Champion to an end, and with the victory being obtained via submission, no one would complain about having this hard-hitting bout on the card. This could also be another big win for The Ring General as he looks to take out more big names in the next couple of years. From an in-ring standpoint, this would easily be the show stealer.
Randy Orton & Mystery Partner vs. The Miz and Trick Williams
Both The Miz and Trick Williams have had their issues with Orton in early 2026, and the selling point of the match would be who would stand alongside Orton in what will be his 21st Mania match. There are multiple paths WWE could choose for Orton’s partner, depending on who is available. For the celebrity spot, Bad Bunny or Jelly Roll are possible choices, and there is also the option that Joe Hendry could return to Mania one year from his viral moment. While more would be explained down the line and could possibly lead to the first feud, there is the outside bet that Orton team with a returning Chris Jericho.
