Despite what some fans may believe, a WWE “Dream Team” will not be coming together as part of one of the biggest matches at Survivor Series.
The WarGames stipulation will return once more on November 29, with entrants for the Men’s and Women’s matches revealed on the November 10 episode of Raw. With only 6 names announced for the Men’s match [CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso vs. Logan Paul, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker] at the time of writing, there has been heavy speculation as to who will join either side.
Along with the rumours that Brock Lesnar could join Team Vision and Roman Reigns could return to side with Rhodes, Punk and Uso, many believe that John Cena will also join the babyface team in what will be his penultimate match on the 2025 retirement tour. However, following the latest storyline developments and a follow-up report, this is not the plan.
Why John Cena Won’t Join WWE “Dream Team”
Also on the November 10 edition of Raw, Cena defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career, which was also a match rumoured for the San Diego Premium Live Event.
With Cena guaranteed to be in action on the show, it was speculated that the title change could lead to the 17-time World Champion making his WarGames debut. However, according to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, this is “not even close” to the plans the company have in place:
“Now that Cena already beat Dominik for the title, I thought that means that match (Mysterio vs. Cena) isn’t happening in San Diego,” Meltzer said. “I figured, why not do Cena, Roman Reigns, Punk, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes, and make it like a dream team for the babyface team at WarGames. Now I can tell you that that’s not happening. I was told ‘not even close’.”
