Myles Borne Wins WWE NXT North American Championship

Myles Borne overcame the odds to capture the WWE NXT North American Championship for the first time in his career.

The title change took place in the main event of the February 24 episode of NXT with Borne picking up the victory over nowformer champion Ethan Page to capture the title. Interference took place throughout the match, beginning with Vanity Project [Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes] looking to give Page the assist. Drake struck Borne with his Evolve Championship, but Borne stayed in the match.

Hank Walker, Tank Ledger, and Shiloh Hill chased off Vaity Project, which then led to Ricky Saints attempting to interfere. However, NXT Champion Joe Hendry neutralised Saints, and in the process exposed one of the ring turnbuckles. Borne pushed Page into the exposed corner and hit the Borne again to win the match and the championship.

The victory was not only Borne’s first reign as North American Champion, but his first title reign in WWE. Prior to the loss, Page had held the championship for a record 273 days, longer than anyone in company history, and also set the record for the most title defences. Page also modified the design with a Canadian theme to honour his home country.

Also on the February 24 NXT, a new match was set up for Vengeance Day.
