Lyra Valkyria Names Dream Match For WWE WrestleMania 41

Lyra Valkyria

Lyra Valkyria would love to face a fellow former NXT Women’s Champion if given the opportunity.

After being called up to the main roster as part of the 2024 Draft, Valkyria will be hoping to make her WrestleMania debut in April to add to her impressive year which included highlights such as making it to the final of the Queen of the Ring Tournament and being crowned the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

With Valkyria still reigning as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion at the time of writing, the Irish star would likely put her title on the line if she is a part of the biggest show of the year. With a stacked main roster at her disposal, the Raw star is not short on opponents for the upcoming show in Las Vegas. If the choice was up to her, Valkyria would like to have the match she was meant to have back in 2024.

Speaking with Joe Baiamonte for Pubity, Valkyria names Asuka as her dream opponent, stating that she was originally scheduled to face The Empress as part of her main roster debut:

“A match that got away from me would be to face Asuka. That would be pretty massive. When I was first debuting on Monday Night Raw, I’ll never forget watching Backlash in France and that’s when I discovered what my debut match would be, which was supposed to be Asuka. Unfortunately, she got hurt and I ended up wrestling Dakota Kai, which ended up being quite poetic in itself as we circled back to me and Dakota in a big history-making moment. But yeah, that would definitely be a nice match to circle back to, to get to wrestle Asuka.”

Asuka suffered a knee injury in the Backlash match and has remained off TV recovering from surgery.

Lyra Valkyria Set To Defend Title

On the February 17th episode of Raw, Dakota Kai defeated Ivy Nile to become the new number one contender to Valkyria’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The match has been made official for the February 24th episode of WWE Raw, which will also be the final episode of the red brand before Elimination Chamber.
