John Cena and CM Punk will finally collide once more, but not in the location that most would have predicted.
Opening the June 9th episode of WWE Raw, Cena spoke about his loss at Money in the Bank thanks to interference from R-Truth. Demanding real competition, Cena was interrupted by Punk to the delight of the crowd.
After speaking about their history and what the Undisputed Championship has done to Cena, Punk demanded a title match that night. After hyping up the crowd that the match would happen, Cena refused and made the counter offer to put the title on the line against Punk at Night of Champions, which will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 28th. The match was later made official.
This will be Punk’s first match in Saudi Arabia. The Chicago native has been outspoken on his views about the Kingdom in the past and was written out of storylines to avoid competing at Crown Jewel. Most notably, Punk used the term “blood money” when firing an insult at The Miz on social media.
Although Cena and Punk were the final 2 in the 2025 Elimination Chamber match, this will be the first time they have faced off in a televised one-on-one match since February 2013. Cena was the victor in that match.
