IYO SKY picked the perfect moment to cash in her contract.
The genius of the sky won her first singles championship on the main roster at SummerSlam, choosing to have the crowning moment immediately after the WWE Women’s Championship Triple Threat match.
Bianca Belair would defeat former champion Asuka and Charlotte Flair in the 3-Way match, coming back to the ring after being escorted from ringside by WWE medical personnel following a bad landing.
After the bell rang, the festivities for Belair were short lived, as IYO SKY and Bayley immediately ran down the ramp to the ring, neutralising any threat of Charlotte Flair and Asuka along the way. SKY immediately targeted Belair’s injured leg, striking it with the briefcase and climbing to the top of the turnbuckle.
It was then announced that the former Women’s Tag Team Champion would be cashing in her contract. The bell rang, SKY hit a Moonsault on Belair and got the 3 count to become the new champion.
Bayley first joined SKY to celebrate the victory, followed by a surprise appearance from Dakota Kai, who is currently out with an injury. The Damage CTRL trio celebrated in the ring, one year on from the group’s debut in the company.
The successful cash-in by IYO SKY means that the women’s briefcase remains at a 100% record, with every previous holder going on to become champion.
