Former AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker has hit the headlines over the past couple of days as multiple reports have emerged concerning her status within the company.
With Baker away from TV for months, there has been heavy speculation that she will not be making any more appearances for All Elite Wrestling and will leave the promotion when her contract expires. As has been seen with the likes of Penta, Rey Fenix and Ricky Starks, wrestlers who are on their way out of the company are taken off TV months before their deal comes to an end, leading to fans theorising that Baker will be the latest name on that list.
On July 1, the AEW star posted a cryptic quote on social media, highlighting the phrase “Only thing that changes its value was the place”:
“A bottle of water can be 50 cents at a supermarket, $2 at the gym, $3 at the movies, and $6 on a plane. Same water. Only thing that changed its value was the place. So the next time you feel your worth is nothing, maybe you’re at the wrong place.” – Kobi Simmons.
Later that day, it was reported by Bodyslam that Baker was looking to leave AEW, citing how the company has changed as the main reason. With Baker’s status being previously reported, the rumour mill once again went into overdrive on whether the former Women’s Champion was leaving the company. However, a follow-up report has stated that as far as they are aware, this is not true.
Britt Baker Leaving AEW Is “News To Them”
Reporting on the Britt Baker discourse, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select stated that Baker will not be going anywhere anytime soon as she has more than a year left on her current contract, and injury time could be added, meaning that the wrestler could remain a part of the promotion until 2027.
When asking AEW sources about the Baker rumours, the idea of the former Women’s Champion wanting to leave was “news to them” and they had not heard anything to that effect. Additionally, Fightful adds that every source they reached out to “vehemently denied” that Baker was trying to get out of AEW.
At the time of writing, it is unknown if Baker will be a part of the biggest show of the year, All In: Texas. If Baker were to make her return, it would likely be a part of the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match.
