CM Punk Wins Back World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk Wins Back World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk has once again regained possession of the World Heavyweight Championship, this time keeping hold of the title until the end of the night.

Competing in the main event of the November 1 Saturday Night’s Main Event special, Punk defeated Jey Uso to win the latest iteration of the title for the second time of his career, and his 7th World Championship in WWE.

The closing moments of the match saw Punk hit the GTS onto Uso twice to pick up the pinfall victory. Punk celebrated with the title and pyro went off to close out the show. This was the second title change to take place at the special, as Jade Cargill defeated Tiffany Stratton earlier in the night to win the WWE Women’s Championship for the first time in her career.

Punk was originally set to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Championship at the November 1 special. However, as Rollins was forced to vacate the title due to injury, a battle royal took place where Uso emerged the victor.

What Happened The Last Time CM Punk Won The World Heavyweight Championship?

Punk previously faced then World Champion Gunther at SummerSlam earlier in the year. Although Punk defeated Gunther to win the World Championship, Seth Rollins’ music played after the match, leading to The Visionary to hobble out on crutches.

Revealing that the injury was in fact a ruse, Rollins stormed to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the championship, ending Punk’s reign at just over 5 minutes.
