Becky Lynch was asked about the reported details of Mercedes Mone’s AEW deal.
On March 13th, Mone was revealed to be the latest major signing for AEW. Debuting at the Big Business special, The CEO was presented as a top star and has been praised as a game changer by Tony Khan. Following the debut, reports began to surface about the monumental sum of money that Khan paid to secure Mone as an AEW talent. Dave Meltzer would report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mone is now the highest-paid woman in all of professional wrestling with her new contract, eclipsing the top stars of WWE in the process.
While promoting her new autobiography, Lynch was interviewed by The Orlando Sentinel and was asked about Mone’s AEW contract. Lynch responded that it is important that if women are presented as top stars then it should be reflected accordingly in their pay:
“I think that’s an important part, getting paid equally for the equal work and the equal position we are at right now,” Lynch said. “Women’s evolutions and revolutions are fine and well, but making sure that they equate to contracts and financial reward for these things, when we are doing equal work, is hugely important.”

Lynch was victorious inside the Elimination Chamber back in February in what was her debut performance inside the structure. As a result fo the victory, Lynch will advance to WrestleMania and challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship. If successful, this will bring Mami’s one year run on top to an end.
