Three title matches, World Champion MJF appeared live and more took place on the January 28 episode of AEW Dynamite.
On the January 21 show, FTR picked up the win over Alec Price and Jordan Oliver in a non-title match. On the January 28 show, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler put their Tag Titles on the line against Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. Additionally, Women’s Champion Kris Statlander put her title on the line against Thekla, and Mark Briscoe defended his TNT Championship against El Clon.
The show also saw the shock arrival of Tommaso Ciampa following his departure from WWE.
AEW Dynamite Results January 28:
- Kenny Omega defeated Rocky Romero, and was told that he would face the winner of Swerve Strickland vs. Andrade El Idolo next week. The winner oft hat atch would then face Adam Page at Revolution, with the victor going on to challenge MJF for the World Championship at Revolution. Page, Strickland and El Diolo all interrupted, with Omega targeting Don Callis and running him off.
- Jon Moxley defeated Ace Austin. After the match, Konosuke Taeshita arrived and made it clear he wanted the Continental Championship. Mark Davis and Jake Doyle then laid out Moxley.
- Mark Briscoe defeated El CLon to retain the TNT Championship. After the match, Briscoe said that he would defend the title on Collision against anyone not in The Don Callis Family, which brought out the shock arrival of Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa accepted the challenge and will make his in-ring debut for AEW on Collision.
- MJF once again berated the crowd before being interrupted by Brody King. King told MJF that there would be a World Title Eliminator match between the 2 next week.
- Kris Statlander defeated Thekla to retain the AEW Women’s Championship. In a pre-tape, The Babes of Wrath offered The Sister of Sin a tag title match on Collision if they did not interfere in the world title match.
- FTR defeated Mark Davis and Jake Doyle to retain the AEW Tag Team Championships.
- Andrade defeated Swerve Strickland.
