British wrestling legend Adrian Street has sadly died at the age of 82.
As reported by the BBC, Street’s family confirmed that Street passed away on Monday, July 31st.
Born in Blaenau Gwent Wales in 1940, Street refused to follow in his father’s footsteps of a career in the mining industry. Instead, Street would opt to travel to London to become a professional wrestler.
The flamboyant dress sense and physical fighting style gave Street a legendary status in the British wrestling scene, eventually being paired with valet and future wife Linda in 1969. Travelling to America in the 80’s The Flamboyant One would wrestle in territories such as Mid-South and the NWA, capturing championships in multiple promotions while based in the United States.
Following a retirement from in-ring competition, Street and wife Linda pivoted careers to designing and selling wrestling attire. Most famously, the couple created the Dude Love gear that was worn by Mick Foley during the rivalry with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Linda has described Adrian Street as “the kindest, most loving man you could ever meet.”
Features of Wrestling would like to send condolences to the family and friends of Adrian Street at this sad time.
