For the first time in 14 years, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage will team up at Forbidden Door.
On the August 13 edition of Dynamite, Cage came to aid of Copeland after The Rated R Superstar was on the receiving end of a beatdown from FTR. Copeland was in a match with Stokely Hathaway where the no physicality clause between FTR and Copeland would be null and void should they interfere. Following repeated spears onto Hathaway, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler had enough and attacked their former friend. Cage then made the save with Spike in hand to fend off the former Tag Team Champions. Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian then tried to attack the former leader of The Patriarchy, but the veterans stood tall.
Copeland and Cage embraced to signal that they were back together again, with it being later confirmed that they would team up at Forbidden Door to take on Wayne and Sabian. The save was a return favour from All In, which saw Copeland save Christian from an attack from The Patriarchy after they failed to win the Tag Team Championships.
The last time that the 2 former World Champions teamed up was back in 2011 as part of a SmackDown dark match. While both men have had their differeces since Copeland arrived in AEW back in October 2023, they now appear to be on the same page.
