Adam Cole’s WWE contract may soon expire, according to multiple reports. The news was first reported by Wrestling Inc, who have stated that Cole’s contract is due to expire shortly after SummerSlam on August 21st.
In a follow up by Fightful Select, the former NXT Champion could have become a free agent earlier than this date. The report states that the former NXT Champion’s contract actually expired around the Great American Bash in July. However, Cole signed an extension, agreeing to work to around SummerSlam.
Adam Cole made his debut at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III, where he attacked then NXT Champion Drew McIntyre to close the show. Shortly afterwards, Cole formed The Undisputed Era faction along with Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong. The group won multiple championships in NXT, at one point holding all of the major titles for the promotion.
In his own right, Adam Cole has held the NXT Championship, NXT Tag Team Championship and the NXT North American Championship. The North American Championship was won in a critically acclaimed ladder match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.
Currently, Adam Cole is feuding with former Undisputed Era partner Kyle O’Reilly, following the group’s implosion. There is currently no word on if Cole will be resigning with WWE or will let his contract expire. It should also be noted that Cole’s girlfriend is the current AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker.
