The Iron Sheik Passes Away Aged 81

WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik has sadly died at the age of 81.

The news was broken on the official social media account of the former WWE Champion, with a heartfelt tribute written by The Iron Sheik’s family:

Born Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri in 1942, The Iron Sheik was known as one of Hulk Hogan’s most prominent rivals in wrestling. To the amusement of many, the feud would continue years later on social media, with The Sheik’s Tweets providing multiple comical moments throughout the years.

The Iron Sheik’s greatest moment of his career would be seen in 1983, where the WWE Hall of Famer would defeat Bob Backlund inside Madison Square Garden to become the new WWE Champion.

The final in-ring appearance of the former WWE Champion would take place at WrestleMania 17, where The Sheik would enter and win the Gimmick Battle Royale.

Outside of the ring, The Iron Sheik was described as a “devoted family man” and “dedicated father”

Features of Wrestling would like to send condolences to the family and friends of The Iron Sheik at his time.
