The World Heavyweight Championship match has been made official.
Following each man being successful in their respective brand’s tournament, Seth Rollins will face AJ Styles at the Night of Champions Premium Live Event, where the winner will be crowned the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion.
AJ Styles competed in a Triple Threat match against Edge and Rey Mysterio on the May 12th episode of SmackDown. Styles would then defeat Bobby Lashley in the final, defeating The All Mighty to earnt he right to challenge for the title. Lashley would defeat Sheamus and Austin Theory in the other Triple Threat match.
Rollins earned the right to challenge for the gold on the May 8th episode of Raw, defeating Finn Balor in the final match for the red brand.
The updated card for Night of Champions is as follows:
- Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles – Singles match where the winner will be crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion
- Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes
- Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens (c) vs. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa – Tag team match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships.
