Rhea Ripley Wins WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship At WrestleMania

Rhea Ripley dethrones The Queen.

Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair with an avalanche Riptide during night one of WrestleMania to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time in her career.

The match was a highly physical affair, with each Superstar giving their absolute best to try and defeat their opponent. Ripley would survive a Spear and a Natural Selection to remain in the match, with Flair kicking out of a Riptide earlier in the match as well.

The ending of the match would see Flair fall face first on the top of the ring post, knocking the now former champion unconscious. Ripley capitalised, picking up Flair for the aforementioned Riptide to win the match and the title.

Ripley would earn the right to face Flair for the title by winning the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match from the number one spot, becoming the first woman to go the distance in the Battle Royale. The victory also marks vengeance for The Nightmare, as Charlotte Flair would defeat Ripley at WrestleMania 36 to snatch the NXT Women’s Title from Ripley.

The victory also adds to the accolades earned by Rhea Ripley, who is now a grand slam women’s champion WWE. The new SmackDown Women’s Champion has also previously captured the Raw and NXT Women’s Titles in the past, along with the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

The victory mars the second title change on the show, as Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would become the new WWE Tag Team Champions in the main event.
