The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble will air live from the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday January 28th. This will be the 36th Royal Rumble event and the first with Triple H in charge of creative.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens – Singles match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship:

Roman Reigns is destined to headline WrestleMania for a 7th time. The Royal Rumble 2023 will be more about who will challenge Reigns, not if The Tribal Chief loses the championship. While the match will be good, the outcome will see the champion retain. The biggest intrigue going into the match will be what will Sami Zayn’s final test be at the event.

Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight – Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match

This will be Wyatt’s first televised match on WWE TV since the return at Extreme Rules 2022. The majority of the intrigue is what will the first time stipulation look like on screen. Expect multiple special effects and supernatural spots to take place, with Wyatt using it to his advantage to win his return match.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match

In what could be one of the most predictable Women’s Royal Rumbles since the match began in 2018, only one WWE Superstar looks like a credible winner. The rise of Rhea Ripley has been seen from the 2022 Royal Rumble, where Ripley was in the final 2 with winner Bianca Belair. The Nightmare and The EST look destined to clash at WrestleMania, and this will be the way to set it up.

Bianca Belair vs. Alexa Bliss – Singles match for the Raw Women’s Championship

As mentioned with the Women’s Royal Rumble, Bianca Belair looks set to defend the title at WrestleMania. While the mysterious Uncle Howdy will be seen during this match, it is likely that the unknown figure will be more of a hindrance than a help towards Bliss. The match has the possibility to end via disqualification or countout, but Belair will be walking out of San Antonio still the champion.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match

Unlike the Women’s Royal Rumble, the men’s match is unpredictable for a number of reasons. Firstly, the rumours regarding the return of The Rock have heated up and simmered down for a number of months, with no one knowing for sure what The Great One will be doing in WWE in 2023. While many are hoping to see The Rock as the number 30 entrant, fans are speculating what will the backup plan be. Cody Rhodes’ big WWE return at the Rumble appears to set up the WrestleMania match for Rhodes, something The American Nightmare has wanted since Day 1 in WWE. With tensions also rising within The Bloodline, Sami Zayn has also emerged as a late favourite for the Battle Royale. With Elimination Chamber taking place in Zayn’s homeland of Canada, a match with Reigns will most likely take place there. If The Rock is unavailable, Cody is likely to be the winner.
