A shock debut took place at Wrestle Kingdom 17
Previously known as Sasha Banks in WWE, the wrestler now going by the name of Mercedes Moné made the surprise first appearance on January 4th pay-per-view, confronting IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI in the process.
Following KAIRI defeating Tam Nakano to retain the title, the lights went out in the Tokyo Dome. Following a short music video, Mercedes Moné made the grand entrance down the ramp, introduced by the ring announcer.
Moné, described as the worst kept secret, entered the ring and approached KAIRI, with the champion holding up the title. Moné dropped the champion and demanded a microphone. The promo consisted of a brief introduction to remind the Tokyo crowd of who she was.
Moné would end by stating that a title match will be taking place in February 18th at the Battle of the Valley event, which is taking place in San Jose, California.
Sasha Banks was last seen inside a wrestling ring while competing for WWE. Banks left the company under controversial circumstances, walking out of Raw while the show was still on the air with tag team champion partner Naomi.
