AJ Styles will be out of action until further notice due to a broken ankle.
The former WWE Champion suffered the injury at a non-televised WWE Live Event in Hershey, Pennsylvania on December 29th. The match would see Styles team with Mia Yim and Karl Anderson to take on Finn Balor, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. Those in attendance have noted that Styles was helped to the back mid-match.
The Phenomenal One has posted a medical update on social media. AJ Styles has confirmed that a broken ankle in the diagnosis. Luckily, the injury will just require rest and rehabilitation and no surgery will be required. Styles also confirmed that this will be the longest he has ever been out of action and thanked everyone for all of the well wishes.
With the Royal Rumble taking place approximately 1 month from the date of the injury, participation in the iconic match looks highly unlikely for the former United States Champion.
AJ Styles debuted at the 2016 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, entering at number 3. The appearance and debut at the event was one of the most surprising in WWE history.
