Ricochet has emerged victorious as the winner of the SmackDown World Cup, winning the tournament on the December 2nd edition of SmackDown.

The final match would take place in the main event of SmackDown, seeing Ricochet face Santos Escobar in the final of the tournament. The match would see a display of high flying and high athleticism, with Ricochet winning the match by hitting a 630 onto Escobar.

Ricochet held the trophy high and fireworks to went off to celebrate the victory, but was soon cut off by the Intercontinental Champion Gunther. Along with a trophy, Ricochet has earned an opportunity at the Intercontinental Title, with it being announced that the match will take place on December 16th.

Ricochet would defeat Jinder Mahal in the opening round and surprisingly beat Braun Strowman in the semi-finals to advance to the finals. Santos Escobar would defeat Shinsuke Nakamura in the opening round and Butch in the semi-finals to advance.
