Austin Theory Wins United States Championship At Survivor Series

Austin Theory is now a 2 time United States Champion, winning the title in a Triple Threat match at Survivor Series.

Theory defeated now former champion Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley at the Premium Live Event to capture the title. The match looked like any of the combatants could win the match on multiple occasions, with fans genuinely believing the match could end at multiple points. Highlights would include Rollins hitting a frog splash to break up a Hurt Lock reversal pin attempt and Lashley placing both Rollins and Theory in The Hurt Lock simultaneously.

The match would end when Seth Rollins hit a Superplex onto Theory, then transitioning inti the Falcon Arrow. However, as Theory was hoisted into the air, Lashley would Spear Rollins. Theory threw Lashley out of the ring and pinned Rollins to capture the title for the second time in his career.

Theory has been targeting the United States Championship for a number of weeks. Most notably, the former Mr. Money in the Bank would use his contract to take on Seth Rollins for the title, which was ultimately unsuccessful, partly due to Bobby Lashley providing interference.

This was the only title change on the show, as Ronda Rousey would successfully defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Shotzi.
