MJF Wins AEW World Championship At Full Gear

MJF is the new AEW World Champion, defeating Jon Moxley to become the new champion in the main event of the Full Gear pay-per-view.

The victory took place on November 19th, taking place in the final match of the pay-per-view in Newark, New Jersey. Despite being from Long Island, MJF would receive a hero’s welcome coming out to the ring, with Moxley receiving heavy boos from the Full Gear crowd. Moxley would come out of the gate strong with stiff strikes, but MJF would dodge some of the attacks, going to to showboat.

In the shocking closing moments of the match, Moxley would hit an Avalanche Paradigm Shift, but MJF would get a finger to the rope to break up the pinfall. The referee would then be knocked down, and MJF would put pull out the Dynamite Diamond Ring. William Regal would come to the ringside area, demanding MJF put the ring down, which he did. MJF would then tap out to Moxley’s choke, but the referee did not see it. As Mox went to go and check on the referee, Regal would slide brass knuckles to MJF. MJF would then go on to cover Moxley to win the match and become the new AEW World Champion.

The victory marks MJF’s first championship win in AEW, with the new champion being with the company since day 1. MJF would be absent for the summer 2022, cutting an expletive filled promo on AEW President Tony Khan back in June. MJF would make a shock return to AEW at the end of the All Out pay-per-view, winning a championship opportunity in the process. The title shot was cashed-in at Full Gear.

The loss at Full Gear brings Jon Moxley’s third AEW World Championship reign to an end, becoming the only person in All Elite Wrestling to win the title 3 times.
