The October 7th edition of SmackDown will be broadcast live from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. The show will serve as both the season premiere and the go-home show for Extreme Rules.
SmackDown will be getting a new commentary line-up on the show. As reported on October 6th, the show will be called by Michael Cole and Wade Barrett moving forward. This will be Barrett’s first time calling SmackDown in its entirety.
A title match will also be taking place on the show. Sheamus will have another opportunity against Gunther to capture the Intercontinental Championship. If The Celtic Warrior is successful, this will make Sheamus a grand slam champion in WWE.
A face-to-face confrontation has also been scheduled for SmackDown. Roman Reigns and Logan Paul will meet together in the ring for a second time, continuing the build to Crown Jewel, where Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Logan Paul.
The following matches and segments will be taking place on SmackDown:
- The final build to Extreme Rules
- Roman Reigns and Logan Paul to meet face-to-face
- Solo Sikoa vs. Ricochet
- Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus – Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship.
