A match with major implications for both competitors originally scheduled for the October 7th Rampage has been cancelled.
It was previously announced that Dark Order’s 10 would be facing off against Andrade el Idolo on Rampage. If el Idolo won, then he would acquire 10’s mask. However, if 10 were to be victorious, el Idolo would have to leave AEW forever.
AEW President Tony Khan took to social media to announce the news, while also revealing a replacement match. 10 will still be in action, as he teams with The Dark Order to face Death Triangle for the AEW Trios Championship.
It has been speculated that the reason for the match cancellation is due to altercations between Andrade el Idolo and Sammy Guevara. Both Guevara and el Idolo were seen trading insults on social media on October 4th.
In a report by Fightful Select, Guevara and el Idolo’s insults came to a head at the October 5th Dynamite tapings. The report also states that Guevara shoved el Idolo, with el Idolo responding by throwing a punch. However, it should be noted that it is not confirmed whether or not the punch connected. While el Idolo’s match has been cancelled, Sammy Guevara was still in action in the main event of Dynamite, where Guevara teamed with Chris Jericho to defeat Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia.
