The Acclaimed Win AEW Tag Team Titles At Grand Slam

Max Caster and Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed are the new AEW Tag Team Champions, winning the titles at AEW Grand Slam.

The Acclaimed would defeat now former champions Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee in the second match of the show taking place inside of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Keith Lee would use his power and agility to gain the advantage, but Max Caster would wear Lee down. After multiple attempts, Caster would finally hit a vertical suplex onto Lee, with the New York crowd responding in a big ovation.

Swerve Strickland would attempt to use the boombox to gain the advantage, but would miss and hit his partner instead. Caster attempted the mic drop finisher, but his knee gave out. The closing moments of the match would see the competitors spill to the outside, with Billy Gunn getting in the face of Strickland. As the referee was distracted, Gunn would hit a Fameasser onto Strickland. The Acclaimed would roll Swerve into the ring, Caster would successfully hit the mic drop to win the match and become the new AEW Tag Team Champions.

The victory marks the first championship win in AEW for both Max Caster and Anthony Bowens and the 9th reign of the AEW Team Championships. The title change was the second to take place in as many matches, as Chris Jericho defeated Claudio Castagnoli in the opening match to become the new Ring of Honor World Champion.
