First Name Advances In AEW World Title Tournament

The first semi-final of the AEW Tournament of Champions has been set.

The first round match that took place on the September 7th episode of Dynamite would see Bryan Danielson defeat “Hangman” Adam Page and advance to the next round. The match marked the 3rd time that Page and Danielson have faced each other in AEW, and the first time that The America Dragon has been able to defeat the former AEW World Champion.

Danielson would target Page’s right arm throughout the match, attempting to neutralise Page’s finisher, the Buck Shot Lariat. Page would hit a top rope suplex onto Danielson, but The American Dragon kicked out at 2. Bryan would try a top rope suplex of his own, but Page would land on his feet. Danielson would win the match by countering Page’s Buck Shot Lariat into a pinning combination.

Danielson will face Chris Jericho in the semi-finals, which will be a rematch from the match at the All Out pay-per-view, which was won by Jericho. The winner of the semi-final will advance to he tournament finals, taking place at AEW Grand Slam on September 21st. the second first round match will be taking place on the September 9th Rampage, which will see Darby Allin face Sammy Guevara.
