Former Universal Champion Braun Strowman made his return to WWE on the September 5th episode of WWE Raw.

A Fatal 4 Way tag team match took place on Raw to determine the next challengers to the Undisputed Tag team Champions The Usos, with The New Day, Los Lotharios, The Street Profits and Alpha Academy being the 4 teams. However, the match would suddenly come to a halt as the music of Braun Strowman hit.

The Monster Among Men would walk to the ring as the WWE Universe erupted. Strowman first set his sights on Chad Gable, then flattening Los Lotharios. Following security attempting to eject the former Universal Champion, the Strowman Express would start once again as Strowman would run around the ring and slam Gable through the announce table.

Braun Strowman was released from his contract back in June 2021. Strowman was one of the most high profile releases of 2021, with many surprised at the news of the release. The former Universal Champion briefly appeared for the Control Your Narrative promotion before making the WWE return.

In a backstage interview, Braun Strowman would announce that he would be appearing on the September 9th episode of SmackDown.
