The Undisputed AEW Champion will be crowned on the August 24th edition of AEW Dynamite.
Linear AEW World Champion CM Punk would open the August 17th Dynamite. Punk would first state that he wanted a rematch for the title against “Hangman” Adam Page, challenging the cowboy to a match then and there. Page would not answer the challenge, so Punk would turn his attention to Interim Champion Jon Moxley. Punk would provoke Moxley by stating that Mox is the 3rd best wrestler in his group, and not for the first time.
Eventually Moxley would interrupt Punk and make his way to the win. The Interim Champion stated that Punk is only in AEW becasue he ran out of money. The two men then came to blows, which was then broken up be security.
It was later announced that the championship unification match would not be taking place at the All Out pay-per-view. Instead, the two champions will battle on the August 24th Dynamite, with the winner being crowned the Undisputed AEW World Champion.
CM Punk had been out with a foot injury since June. Punk would make the surprise return on the August 10th Dynamite.
