First Match Confirmed For WWE Clash At The Castle

The first match for the WWE Premium Live Event Clash At The Castle has been confirmed on the July 29th edition of SmackDown.

The event due to be hosted in Cardiff will see Drew McIntyre get an opportunity at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. McIntyre will face the winner of the SummerSlam main event, which will see Champion Roman Reigns face challenger Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match.

McIntyre earned the right to be the number one contender after defeating Sheamus in a Donnybrook match on SmackDown. Both McIntyre and Sheamus held nothing back in this hard hitting match, which saw Sheamus driven into barrels and a bar set up at ringside. Butch would provide interference in the no disqualification match, but was dispatched by The Scottish Warrior. Sheamus at one point looked like he would win the match by hitting McIntyre with a brogue kick, but McIntyre would kick out. A Claymore would then follow to give Drew McIntyre the victory and will give the former WWE Champion the chance to become a 3 time World Champion.

At the time of writing, Drew McIntyre facing whoever the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after SummerSlam is the only match officially announced for Clash At The Castle.
