The Interim AEW World Championship will be on the line in the promotion’s Quake From The Lake special episode in Minnesota on August 10th, as Jon Moxley will defend he title against Chris Jericho on the show.
Moxley would successfully defend the championship against Rush in the opening match of the July 27th episode of AEW Dynamite. Following the victory, the celebrations were interrupted by the Jericho Appreciation Society. Jericho stated that after 2 and a half years, he wants his rematch for the title. Moxley would then go on to accept the match.
Chris Jericho was the first ever AEW World Champion, defeating Adam Page to win the title at All Out 2019. Le Champion would hold the championship until AEW Revolution 2020, where he would be defeated by Jon Moxley.
Moxley would become a two time champion by defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door to become the Interim AEW World Champion.
