A title change took place in the opening match of the July 6th episode of AEW Dynamite.
In the first match of the show, Wardlow would defeat Scorpio Sky in a Street Fight to become the new TNT Champion. The match would see American Top Team members provide interference throughout to try and neutralise Mr. Mayhem, but Wardlow was too powerful and would fight off the faction members.
American Top Team would then storm the ring, but were quickly ejected. It looked like Sky was going to retain after hitting Wardlow with the title belt, but Wardlow would kick out at 2 and counter a TKO.
The closing moments of the match would see Wardlow pick up Sky and deliver 3 powerbombs. Mr. Mayhem would put a foot on the chest of the now former champion to deliver the pin and become victorious. Confetti would be shot out through the arena as Wardlow was presented with the title by the referee.
This victory marks the first championship Wardlow has won in AEW, starting the 12th reign of the TNT Championship.
