The AEW Tag Team Titles changed hands on the June 15th special of Dynamite. The main event of the show saw The Young Bucks defeat Jurassic Express in a ladder match to become the first two time Tag Team Champions in All Elite Wrestling.
The match was an athletic spectacle from the outset, with both teams hitting moves off of springboards or off of the ladders. Matt Jackson and Jungle Boy would be briefly taken out of the match by being driven though tables that were set up outside.
The referees would check on the competitors that were driven through tables, but the match was allowed to continue. The closing moments of the match would see Luchasaurus taken out of the match by being pushed off of the ladder and crashing into 4 tables. Jungle Boy would shortly be taken out afterwards with the BTE Trigger. Both Matt and Nick Jackson would climb up the ladder together to grab the titles.
The victory marks the 7th different Tag Team Champions in AEW and as previously mentioned, the first 2 time title holders. It should be noted that the match was originally meant to be a triple threat match featuring The Hardys. However, due to Jeff Hardy’s suspension from AEW, the match was changed to just 2 teams.
The defeat would cause Jurassic Express’ mentor Christian Cage to snap, turning on his long time friends and allies. Cage would hit Jungle Boy with the Killswitch and a con-chair-to as Dynamite went off of the air.
