AEW President Tony Khan refused to provide a statement on the reported MJF situation during the media scrum following Double or Nothing.
Khan was asked by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful on if he wanted to comment on MJF. The AEW president responded with the following:
“I’m not going to comment on that. I’ve got a lot of stuff from the pay-per-view that I can comment on, but I’m not going to comment on that,”
Maxwell Jacob Friedman no-showed a fan meet and greet the day before Double or Nothing. It was reported by multiple news websites that MJF could no-show the pay-per-view and may fly out of Las Vegas before the show was due to start.
MJF did show up at Double or Nothing, losing in the opening match to Wardlow. The stipulation of the match meant that by being victorious, Wardlow is now officially a member of the AEW roster and will no longer be contractually tied to MJF. The same Fightful article where the quote has been obtained from notes that MJF arrived for the match and left shortly afterwards.
H/t to Fightful for the use of quote.
