Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38 to become the new Raw Women’s Champion.
The match took place on the first of the two night WrestleMania Premium Live Event. Both superstars would get special entrances on the night, with Big Time Becks arriving in a SUV and Bianca Belair being played down to the ring by a marching band.
The crowd came alive when the bell rung, and Lynch quickly hit a Man Handle Slam onto Belair, trying to repeat the finish from their previous encounter at SummerSlam. The match would then see quick counters from both champion and challenger, with The EST taking control following Lynch missing a moonsault. The ending of the match saw Becky Lynch slam Bianca Belair onto the steel steps outside the ring, with the challenger only just beating the 10 count from the referee. Belair would go on to hit a KOD onto Lynch to win the Raw Women’s Championship for the first time in her career.
Bianca Belair held the SmackDown Women’s Championship from WrestleMania 37 up until SummerSlam 2021. Becky Lynch would make her surprise return to WWE at SummerSlam and would defeat Belair to become champion once again in a match that lasted just 26 seconds. The Man would become Raw Women’s Champion following a switch in brands during the 2021 WWE Draft, Lynch would swap titles with Charlotte Flair in a SmackDown segment before becoming a mainstay on the red brand. Belair would demand a rematch for months, but the champion would repeatedly refuse. The EST would finally earn the opportunity at WrestleMania 38 by becoming victorious in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match at the Premium Live Event of the same name.
This is Bianca Belair’s second reign as Women’s Champion. Belair would defeat Sasha banks in the main event of WrestleMania 37 to become SmackDown Women’s Champion for the first time following the victory in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble.
