Samoa Joe Was Trying To Help WWE Buy Ring Of Honor’s Tape Library

Samoa Joe has stated that he tried to help WWE buy the tape library for Ring of Honor while he was employed with the company.

Joe made a surprise return to Ring of Honor at the Supercard of Honor show on April 1st, with it being later revealed that the former Ring of Honor Champion has also signed with All Elite Wrestling. A post-show media scrum took place following the pay-per-view that featured Samoa Joe. The former WWE star said the following about AEW president Tony Khan’s recent acquisition of the ROH tape library:

“[Tony Khan buying ROH] was a major surprise to me, especially coming from my former position and how hard I was pushing to buy the library for the other company. It let me know why it was being such a difficult process. When that did come up, at the same, having Tony have it and know how much he loves wrestling and knowing how much he loved ROH and product, just from our meetings and the time knowing each other, I knew it would be good hands. I knew it would be treated with respect and it would be kind of made available to the fans in the best way possible. I was very happy with it.”

WWE purchasing Ring of Honor’s tape library would have been useful for building video packages if purchased in 2021. Stars such as Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Adam Cole and Kevin Owens have an extensive history in Ring of Honor, with all being former ROH World Champions and being signed to WWE just over 6 months ago.

Samoa Joe will be making his AEW debut on the April 6th episode of AEW Dynamite.
