Big E Suffers Broken Neck Following Scary Bump On SmackDown

Big E has confirmed that his neck has been broken following a scary looking landing that took place on the March 11th edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

The former WWE Champion was competing in the opening match on SmackDown, teaming with Kofi Kingston to take on the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland. Outside the ring, Holland gave an overhead suplex to Big E, where The New Day member landed on his head in a nasty looking landing. The match was ended shortly after the spot took place, which was won by Sheamus pinning Kofi Kingston.

Those in attendance have reported on social media that Big E was stretchered out of the arena, giving a thumbs up to the live crowd to signal that he was OK.

In an update on social media, Big E has posted the following video:

In the video, Big E has stated that he can move his fingers, but it has been confirmed that his neck has been broken. The New Day member also thanked everyone for their well wishes following the incident:

“I can’t thank all of you beautiful people enough, for all of your concern and your messages. It’s very heart-warming. I can move all of my digits, [wiggles fingers to camera] you see that? That’s nice, that’s always a good thing. Strength feels fine. But unfortunately, right now they tell me that my neck is broken, so there is that.

But once again, thank you everybody, I’m gonna be alright, I’ll be good. Don’t worry, go to sleep. Don’t worry about old me, but for real, thank you. I appreciate all of you.”

Features of Wrestling would like to wish Big E a full and speedy recovery at this time.
