Ronda Rousey will be making her SmackDown in-ring debut on the March 4th edition of the blue brand, with Rousey’s opponent being Sonya Deville.
At the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, Rousey teamed with Naomi to defeat the team of Sonya Deville and Charlotte Flair. The match also had the added stipulation that Ronda Rousey had to compete with one arm tied behind her back. During the opening segment of the February 25th SmackDown, Rousey appeared for an in-ring interview with WWE commentator Michael Cole. Rousey was asked why she returned at the Royal Rumble and addressed the upcoming WrestleMania match with Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Charlotte Flair came out onto the entrance ramp and taunted her WrestleMania opponent. Rousey was then blindsided by WWE Official Sonya Deville, who was still angry at the result of Elimination Chamber. Both Flair and Deville targeted Rousey’s leg, but Ronda stood tall at the end of the segment.
After the commercial break, Sonya Deville and fellow WWE Official Adam Pearce are seen watching the replay of the incident. Pearce was angry at Deville’s actions, and then revealed that WWE higher-ups have officially signed the match between Ronda Rousey and Sonya Deville will be taking place on Friday, March 4th.
The current announced card for the March 4th SmackDown is as follows:
- Ronda Rousey vs. Sonya Deville.
- Sami Zayn (c) vs. Ricochet – Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship.
- The Usos (c) vs. The Viking Raiders – Tag team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
